The Board of Trustees of Johnston Community College (JCC) invites applications and nominations for its fourth President. The President of the College serves as the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible to the appointed 12-member Board of Trustees. The Student Government Association President serves as a non-voting thirteenth member. The President will thoroughly understand and have a commitment to the mission and the purpose of JCC and is expected to provide leadership for the College and the educational effectiveness of all aspects of the institution. The President will build a vision for the College, shared by the Board, the College, and the Community that will ensure future growth. The President will also serve on the JCC Foundation Board of Directors.
Location
Johnston Community College in Smithfield, North Carolina, is 30 miles east of Raleigh near the junction of I-95 and US 70. It is located midway between New York and Florida on I-95 and at the crossroads of I-95 and I-40. Johnston County connects the nation's North and South with East and West. Its location places it only a two-hour drive from Atlantic Coast beaches and a four-hour drive from the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The College
The College, with locations throughout Johnston County, North Carolina, was established in 1969. The 175-acre main campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities, picturesque pines, colorful azaleas and scenic ponds and offers 35+ programs of study as well as numerous continuing education courses. Additional locations include the Cleveland Center, the Johnston County Workforce Development Center in Clayton, and the Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center, a 2800-acre wildlife preserve and teaching facility. The main campus in Smithfield is home to a 16-acre Arboretum and the 1007-seat Paul A. Johnston Auditorium attracting additional involvement on-campus by community members.
JCC awards associate degrees, certificates, and diplomas to students pursuing college transfer, occupational, technical, and continuing education opportunities. The College serves more than 11,000 students annually through curriculum and continuing education which includes workforce training and customized instructional programs. The full-time equivalent enrollment is approximately 4,100. JCC ranks 16th among the 58 colleges in the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS). With an annual state budget of about $30 million, JCC employs some 600 full-time and part-time employees. During its history, JCC has maintained its small-town values while progressively meeting the needs of one of the fastest growing counties in the state.

Professional Qualifications & Experience Requirements
An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution is required. A minimum of three (3) years of senior-level executive experience in higher education is required. Preference given to candidates with work experience in a community or technical college as well as community or technical college presidential experience. The review of applications will begin October 6, 2022. Applications will be screened, and the most qualified applicants interviewed. All applicants will be notified once the position has been filled.
Please Note: All finalists will be required to travel to JCC’s campus in Smithfield, NC for presentations to the Board, faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.
Compensation
