Job Description

BIOENGINEERING AND LIFE SCIENCE POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Chemical Engineering-Strano Research Group, to develop new and groundbreaking methods to reveal the neuromodulator spatiotemporal dynamics in the retina.  The insights gained from this project will aid in the understanding of how brain states such as wakefulness and mood adjust the retinal function according to human behavioral needs. Will develop a new set of nanotechnology-enabled tools that will probe the retina as a neuronal tissue where all visual processing begins. Working with collaborators at the Weismann Institute of Science in Israel, this project will uncover the origins of neuromodulation within retinopetal axons, which to date, remain largely unknown.

In order to improve the human condition, the Strano Research Group seeks to understand nanometer-scale phenomena using mathematics and chemistry and invent new technologies for health, energy, food production, and materials science.
