Description

We seek applicants for various positions to advance and support the College's Workforce Equity Initiative (WEI). The WEI is a statewide grant targeted at unemployed and under-employed adults, 60% of whom must be African American. The grant provides training and credentials in specific high-impact academic programs, specialized student support services, and job entry assistance in participants' chosen career paths.



All roles require a commitment to the unique needs of students from diverse academic, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds, as well as excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. A background similiar to those of students served by WEI is desired. Positions may include occasional evening and/or weekend hours to support student programming.

Director, WEI - serve as the principal manager of the WEI grant and lead the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of comprehensive WEI services in collaboration with other areas across the College as appropriate. This includes but is not limited to student recruitment, success supports, budgeting, reporting, and outcomes.
  • Bachelor's degree and experience performing project management or grant-funded functions is required 
  • Master's degree; supervisory experience; familiarity with academic and student service functions in higher education; and knowledge  of local employers or social service resources is desired
Success Navigator, WEI -  responsible for leading functions related to student recruitment, outreach, enrollment, and persistence, in collaboration with external social support services and other areas of the College, as guided by the Director. This position may be full-time or part-time dependent upon grant needs at time of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree is required 
  • Knowledge of local social service resources and professional experience in an academic setting is desired 
Career Navigator, WEI - responsible for a designated caseload of students as they prepare for and successfully transition into the workplace. This includes individualized, direct supports such as guiding student goal setting and achievement, researching career opportunities for targeted programs, job search assistance, and job placement functions. Will maintain professional relationships with local employers looking to hire WEI completers. This position may be full-time or part-time dependent upon grant needs at time of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Knowledge of local employers and professional experience in an academic setting or with career development/placement is desired
Program Assistant, Student Support Services - assist with daily operations and processes of WEI and adjacent departments, such as Career Connections and Success Connections, with an emphasis on records and database management.
  • Associate degree or appropriate experience/education as well as familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is required
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft software is desired
Coordinator, Career Connections - coordinate career-related programming for Career Connections and assist in implementing the operational plan. Collaborate with Career Navigators to build database of employer contacts, create library of specific resources for interview preparation, networking tips, etc.; manage the Handshake online job platform; and organize career development functions such as job shadowing and career mentoring.
  • Bachelor's degree or appropriate education/experience and ability to think creatively and analytically regarding program offerings
  • Experience with/knowledge of career development (interview preparation, resume writing, event planning, career assessments, and social media engagement); experience tracking or analyzing data; knowledge of local employers; and experience working in an academic setting are desired.

EMPLOYEE LEAVE
Vacation: 20 days per year with a maximum annual carry-over of 40 days
Sick Leave: 12 days per year with unlimited annual carry-over
Holidays: 12 designated paid holidays plus 3 paid floating days
HCC is closed from Christmas Eve Day through New Year's Day generally resulting in additional paid days
