Position Summary Information

Job Goal
To fully support the mission of Northeast Iowa Community College through the functions of teaching, service and scholarship. To provide effective instruction to ensure academic programming attains student learning outcomes and prepares students for successful transition into the workforce or transfer to a post-secondary institution. To carry out assigned responsibilities to ensure academic programs are sustainable and aligned with accreditation standards.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in the content area of instruction or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the content area of instruction.

Primary courses taught will be scheduled onsite face-to-face. Course delivery may include daytime, evenings, and/or weekends.

Must meet minimum experience and education requirements as outlined by the Iowa Code sections 260C.47 and 260C.48 and the Northeast Iowa Community College Quality Faculty Plan.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
As specified by the department dean or director.
The candidate must have strong leadership ability; excellent communication skills; and must be ethical, honest, and objective. Experience with and aptitude for working with representatives from business, industry, education, and other agencies in the identification of vocational and general education programming to meet the needs of the department and the college. Ability to assimilate data and to organize presentations for individuals and groups. Skilled in short-term and long range planning. Committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Commitment and willingness to participate fully in quality improvement at the personal, departmental, and institutional levels. Demonstrated ability to teach in a face-face format.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching is a core activity of the College and involves working with credit and non-credit students. All faculty members are expected to achieve excellence in this role. Teaching includes not only traditional classroom, laboratory and studio instruction, but may also include service-learning courses, evolving forms of technology-enhanced instruction such as hybrid, online, distance learning courses, competency based learning, and other non-classroom instruction such as the supervision of interns/co-op students and clinical students. The following provides a list of the essential expectations in teaching:

1. Remain current with methods, content and technology in the content area.
2. Possess the expertise to deliver courses in multiple formats; face-to-face, online, hybrid
3. Complete delegated teaching assignment in accordance with guidelines/expectations for teaching methodology.
4. Meet all class, office and college commitments.
5. Evidence a commitment to the assessment of student learning.
6. Maintain a classroom environment that supports student engagement, retention and completion.
7. Assist in the placement and success of students.
8. Meet roles and responsibilities as delegated by program accreditation bodies.
