This Professional Counselor 3 or 4 position is for a vacancy located in our Behavioral Health Clinic in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Please see the Examples of Work below for additional information for this position.

This position may be filled as a Probational Appointment or a Job Appointment. Applicants may be asked to serve a probationary period of not less than 6 months and not more than 24 months.

This position is in a Career Progression Series and may be filled as either a Professional Counselor 3 or a Professional Counselor 4, depending on the applicant’s level of experience. Please note that there is only one vacancy to be filled. 

Preference may be given to individuals who have at least 6 months of substance abuse treatment experience or have passed the ADC, AADC, or EMAC exam at the time of appointment.

Salary may be negotiable depending on the chosen applicant’s level of experience. Below is a list of the pay range for the position: 

  • Professional Counselor 3: $22.76/hour minimum - $36.07/hour maximum
  • Professional Counselor 4: $24.35/hour minimum - $38.59/hour maximum

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Registration as either a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor or a Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the Louisiana Board of Licensed Professional Counselors plus two years of professional level counseling experience.

NOTE: 
Pursuant to Act 484 of the 2014 Legislative Session and effective May 1, 2015, Counselor Interns are now called "Provisional Licensed Professional Counselors" (PLPCs) and MFT Interns are now called "Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists" (PLMFTs).

Examples of Work

This clinician position provides clinical assessment and treatment of clients with various mental health diagnoses, substance use disorders, medication assisted treatment, and high-risk patients in crisis. The clinician completes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, screenings, treatment via individual/family/group therapy, as well as discharge plans for patients, and families as needed. The clinician works on an interdisciplinary treatment team in order to provide thorough and comprehensive care, as well as continuity of care, and will prepare and send progress reports to the appropriate social service agencies and referral sources as required. The clinician may also assist in the acquisition of appropriate resources as needed. The clinician may also collect routine urine drug samples for labs and rapid assessment if required. 
 
Additionally, the clinician attends annual and PRN trainings and webinars to improve competency in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. The clinician also works collaboratively with Peer Support Specialists, Case Management, and Care Coordination for patients with mental health and substance use disorder that may require additional support and coordination of services.
