Description

Executes the goals and objectives of the TRIO Talent Search program in accordance with the U.S. Department of Education and guidelines of Kankakee Community College.

Examples of Duties

A,  Interprets U.S. Department of Education regulations applicable to the grant programs, and ensures internal accountability by developing, implementing, and updating program policies and procedures as needed to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
 
B. In collaboration with program staff and other college administrators, prepares and submits Annual Performance Report (APR) to the U.S. Department of Education and grant renewal application, in addition to other college departmental reports as required by the Director of Support Services.
 
C. Coordinates the collection and analyzation of data for decision-making to continuously improve services and outcomes of the program. This includes selecting appropriate evaluation methods, administering assessments, collecting data, and working with staff to evaluate results.
 
D. Supervises the recruitment, selection, and training of project staff. Provides support and supervision to assigned staff and completes an annual evaluation for each staff member.
 
E. Develops, supervises, and provides leadership for the design, implementation, and evaluation of instruction, tutoring, cultural/recreational activities, and residential and non-residential summer components for program participants.
 
F. Works collaboratively with the Director of Support Services and Business Office personnel to reconcile expenditures and calculate projections to maintain fiscal control of and accountability for the program budget.
 
G. Organizes the development and implementation of annual strategic plan for academic programming and participant recruitment, which includes: Planning strategies for program publicity, determination of participant eligibility, methods of recruitment, documentation, and follow-up services. Development includes supervising and monitoring communications shared on social media, text message, email, and a biannual newsletter.
 
H. Represents the college as a speaker/presenter, for the TRIO Talent Search program, in high schools, service clubs, community events, and other activities of a similar nature.
 

Minimum Qualifications

A.  Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in student personnel ser­vices or counseling preferred.  Major in education, psychology, or sociology preferred.

B.  Work experience in student personnel services with socio-economically at-risk students at high school or college level preferred.

C.  Two years teaching and/or counseling experience at high school or college level preferred.

D.  Work experience with high school students in an educational setting ­ strongly preferred.

E.  Work experience with federal or state grant programs preferred.

F.  Candidates with similar cultural and academic backgrounds to target population preferred.

G.  Experience with university residence hall living and staff supervision and evaluation preferred.

H.  Qualified candidate must have strong reading, writing, and computation skills, as well as strong computer experience with Microsoft office or comparable software applications. Bilingual preferred.  

Supplemental Information

Annual salary begins at $62,887.
