Position Summary

The Student Services Enrollment Coordinator, with exemplary organizational, planning, and management skills, is responsible for coordinating the delivery of all recruitment and enrollment communication that supports recruitment campaigns, status letters for acceptance to ISTC, and other related communications.  Under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Services, this position is also responsible for coordinating student activities for recruitment and enrollment of all JF Ingram State Technical College (ISTC) instructional sites. Listed below are the primary responsibilities of this position; however, the Director of Student Services or his/her designee may assign other professional duties to meet the College’s needs.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Functions as the technical resource and provides complex problem resolution on issues related to admission, registration, and student records,
  • Trains and provides quality assurance with Enrollment Services staff to ensure that duplicate record creation is reduced and assures appropriate follow-up when duplicate records are created to prevent the problem from occurring in the future,
  • Assists with College-wide initiatives and projects which support the College’s strategic enrollment goals,
  • Represents Enrollment Services and acts as a liaison to the department, sharing information and updates regarding enrollment services via presentations and training,
  • Monitors and coordinates enrollment requirements and assessment needs of current and prospective students,
  • Makes recommendations to the Adult Education department and Student Support Services for students who want to complete the GED program, and students who may need academic and career coaching,
  • Serves as liaison in matters related to student recruitment and enrollment between instructors and Student Services Clerks, 
  • Assists in planning and conducting annual graduation ceremonies,
  • Responsible for following the Alabama Community College System and/or Board of Trustees, ADOC, state, and federal policies, procedures, guidelines, statutes, directives, etc., 
  • Assists the Director of Student Services in promoting continuous improvement of all student services activities and programs,
  • Possesses an understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical college.
  • Possesses a sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Complies with any applicable guidelines and policies set forth by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and J.F. Ingram State Technical College.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES:

  •  Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, and teambuilding skills, which lead to logical decisions,
  • Managing and communicating with large groups of unclassified incarcerated students daily without supervision is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication, Student Services, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university; and two (2) or more years of experience successfully implementing college recruitment, advisement, or admission are required.  Two (2) or more years of experience teaching and/or presenting to groups; three (3) or more years experience in a correctional education environment is preferred.

 Salary Range: Salary will be determined by placement on the appropriate Alabama Community College System-approved salary schedule. C3 ($63,431  - $94,863)

All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions.  Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control.   The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA.  The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy.  The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.  

Employees/Dependents at two-year colleges:
  • 1/3 waived after 1st year
  • 2/3 waived after 2nd year
  • 3/3 waived after 3rd year
