Position Summary

NOTE:  CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME. ALL TIMES SHOWN ARE IN EASTERN TIME.

Under the general direction of the Director of Strategic Initiatives, this employee provides data research and collection activities relative to institutional research. Responsible for all necessary functions related to the retrieval, compilation, analysis, interpretation, and use of institutional data for planning, policy formulation, and reporting to improve the institution’s ability to make data-driven decisions.

Salary:  Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule E3 03:  $46,617-$59,225.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.  
  • Collect, verify and submit data requested by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use appropriate  software to complete all institutional data requests in a timely manner.
  • Work with administrative and academic areas to prepare and submit annual performance reports and complete unit plans.
  • Provide data for ACHE Validation of Enrollment and Completion Reports.
  • Provide data to ACCS for Voluntary Framework of Accountability (VFA) Reports.
  • Provide data for reporting to the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study administered by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Compile data related to program assessments.
  • Prepare reports via Argos reporting system.
  • Extract data to support Instructional Program Reviews, including items such as numbers of majors, numbers of graduates, and course enrollment.
  • Collect data related to departmental assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Support college-wide assessments.
  • Create, analyze, and distribute college-wide data collection instruments, including Graduate Student Survey, Student Satisfaction Survey, Employee Evaluation of Campus Services and various ad hoc surveys.
  • Coordinate information to update DSI website by posting publications generated by the institutional research unit.
  • Clearly interpret and explain data to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and publish retention and graduation reports.
  • Compile reports, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret findings of analyses. Take appropriate steps to correct data discrepancies when noted.
  • Conduct data research to support college-wide activities such as grant writing.
  • Prepare presentation materials for supervisor.
  • Provide support for SACSCOC accreditation requirements.
  • Represent the College in a professional manner at system office and/or related professional meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Math, Statistics, Education, Business, Social Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years full-time related experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years Banner software or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience.
  • High degree of workplace professionalism.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, proficiency in the English language.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient use of Microsoft Office suite.

All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions.  Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control.   The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA.  The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy.  The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.  

Employees/Dependents at two-year colleges:
  • 1/3 waived after 1st year
  • 2/3 waived after 2nd year
  • 3/3 waived after 3rd year
