Description

We seek applicants for a full-time position to assist the Dean in the administration of Adult Education programs, with a focus on providing leadership for instructors. 

Our Adult Education programs are essential to the College vision of leading our community to lifelong learning and success, and they provide services to a diverse population of learners including traditionally underserved students, community members looking to develop their English language skills, and those seeking to advance their educational achievements.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Lead the selection, training, development, and evaluation of part-time instructors
  • Program and curriculum development
  • Communicate regularly with instructors regarding instructional concerns and provide necessary support and resources to resolve those concerns
  • Lead the design and delivery of professional development opportunities for instructional staff
  • Assist the Dean with grant writing, administration, and compliance
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with other areas of the College to ensure full integration of Adult Education programs and students and to foster student success
  • Represent the College in local and state organizations and meetings, including referral relationships with area agencies
  • Manage off-site programming and Adult Education offerings at the College's Lincoln and Pontiac locations
  • May teach as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, TESOL, or related field
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and inclusively as a team member and with diverse populations of students
  • Organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and function professionally under pressure

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Adult Education teaching and/or administrative experience
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Work experience in a community college environment

EMPLOYEE LEAVE
Vacation: 20 days per year with a maximum annual carry-over of 40 days
Sick Leave: 12 days per year with unlimited annual carry-over
Holidays: 12 designated paid holidays plus 3 paid floating days
HCC is closed from Christmas Eve Day through New Year's Day generally resulting in 2-3 additional paid days
