Description

POSITION TITLE:  Assistant Baseball Coach

REPORTS TO:  Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach          

POSITION SUMMARY:    We are seeking an energetic, highly organized, dynamic professional to join our team. Our institution provides the highest quality education and service excellence in an environment of care, support, mutual respect, and integrity. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt assistant coaching position. The successful candidate will have a background of coaching that will allow them to be responsible for assisting the baseball program including recruiting, scheduling, planning, organizing, budgeting, and promoting LCC Athletics.

 

As an employee of, and the Colorado Community College System, this position is required to uphold and enforce the policies of LCC and CCCS, and all local, state and federal laws. This position will comply with all student privacy laws (FERPA); and is a mandatory reporter of any suspected illegal activity. 

  

Examples of Duties

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the instruction of student athletes in proper technique in games and practices
  • All field maintenance required by City of Lamar and the baseball program
  • Instruct student-athletes in the guidance of physical health for athletes including weight and cardio training
  • Direct team building strategies and activities including community activities
  • Assist practice sessions according to scheduled times.
  • Design, supervise, and instruct practice sessions
  • Help make the necessary arrangements for traveling to scheduled intercollegiate events
  • Assist in all game management for home events
  • Help take the responsibility of recruitment and retention of prospective student athletes
  • Follow NJCAA requirements with signing and paperwork in the recruiting process
  • Monitor the academic progress of student athletes
  • Assist in the planning, organizing, and operation of team and individual camps
  • Participate in HLC and accreditation activities for the college including team assignments, action project assignments, Conversation Day, etc.
  • Comply with all requirements of FERPA, Title IX, Clery, policies of the institution, the Colorado Community College System, and all local, state and federal laws while performing the required duties of the position
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate Degree
  • Must be student-centered with a desire to assist in developing young men as athletes, students, and people of good character
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage a budget and also fundraise to assist your program
  • Must hold or be able to acquire a Colorado commercial driver’s license (Class C with Passenger Endorsement)
  • Willing and able to work evening and weekend hours as required
  • Knowledge of Region 9 Baseball and Southeast Colorado
  • Ability to recruit Colorado student’s athletes as well as out of state students
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • College Coaching experience required (min 3 years)
  • College coaching experience preferred
  • Website management, video, and marketing skills
