Purpose/Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY

 

The Nurse Aide Assistant Faculty Position is a full-time, 9-month position in CCD’s rapidly expanding Department of Nursing. Full-time faculty members are assigned 18 working units each semester with the option to teach summer courses for additional compensation. Faculty may need to teach at either of our campuses (Lowry and Auraria) and at a variety of times (days, evenings, and some weekends). The CCD Department of Nursing is committed to the continued growth and development of its staff and faculty. To this end, the Director of Nursing Education Programs (DNEP) offers monthly professional development courses, opportunities to serve on department specific and campus wide committees, micro-credentialing and continuing education courses, and fosters collaboration with colleagues throughout all disciplines to ensure faculty support and student success.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include both didactic and clinical instruction; mentoring and supporting diverse student populations in their growth and education; working with students in a skills lab setting to observe and support the application of new skills and knowledge; provide clinical instruction while supervising students on clinical rotations with community partners; course management; complete student evaluations and course paperwork; program evaluation; advisement; orientation; curriculum design; preparing course materials; preparing course files; tracking student documentation; administrative support; respond to requests made by the DNEP, Department Chair, or Program Coordinator; working collegially and professionally with others on staff; providing an outstanding role model for students; other duties as assigned by the Chair.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Education:  (Required/Minimum)

 

Active unencumbered RN or LPN nursing license in the State of Colorado

 

Experience: (Required/Minimum)

 

Current RN or LPN License (must have held a license for at least 1 year


AND

 

Has, or qualifies for, postsecondary CTE credential including 4000 paid non-teaching occupational hours within the last 5 years*

 

AND

 

1-year experience caring for chronically ill and/or caring for elderly 


AND

 

Has one of the following: 1) completed a course in teaching adults, 2) documented experience in teaching adults, or 3) 1-year experience managing nurse aide

 

Experience teaching in a clinical setting

 

BLS certified

 

Immunizations as required by the Department of Nursing

 

Ability to work with Microsoft Suite

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

Experience: 

 

Proven ability to assure equitable outcomes for students, partners, and stakeholders using inclusive and equitable strategies

 

Previous experience building the framework for successful, collegial relationships with internal and external stakeholders and community partners

 

Previous experience as a member/lead of a committee(s) and/or taskforce(s).

 

Experience in prior development of straightforward and comprehensive assessment tool and/or learning objective

 

Physical & Cognitive Demands

 

The following are some of the physical/cognitive demands associated with this position:

•   Operates in a standard office and/or classroom environment. 

•   Uses a computer

•   Routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers

•   Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

•   Constant communication with community/campus partners and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

•   Occasionally moves, positions, and transports classroom equipment, up to 25 lbs.

Non-Classified Benefit-Eligible Employees

Effective July 1, 2015, employees in APT and faculty positions that are budgeted at .75 FTE or more are eligible for benefits beginning on their date of hire. Retirement

CCD and most employment categories contribute to Colorado PERA, which provides retirement and other benefits to employees of more than 500 government agencies and public entities in the state of Colorado. PERA is the 21st largest public pension plan in the United States. PERA is a substitute for Social Security; CCD employees do not contribute to Social Security. PERA eligible employees are required to contribute a fixed percentage of their salary to the pension. Student employees are not eligible to participate in PERA.
