Essential Functions of Position
The ideal candidate will share Reedley College’s commitment to serving its racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. As of Spring 2021, we currently enroll over 7,500 students in which 75% identify as Latinx, 5% as Asian/Pacific Islander, 2% as Black/African American, 16% as White, 1% as American Indian/Alaska Native, and 2% as multiracial. Reedley College is a Hispanic-Serving Institution, reflecting the great responsibility that the College has to the educational attainment and economic well-being of the surrounding community.

Providing professional nursing assessment through standards set by the California Nurse Practice Ace and Title V on the Reedley College campus and/or at off-site community campus locations, the College Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Assessing students for self-care or referral to appropriate medical providers;
  • Collaborating and responding regarding crisis team management and emergency problems and providing emergency and nursing care as needed;
  • Establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with medical community;
  • Providing appropriate recommendations regarding health, wellness, public health and safety concerns for the campus community;
  • Presenting current and accurate health educational and wellness resources for students;
  • Participating in professional staff development activities for students, staff, and community;
  • Participating in extracurricular and community activities;
  • Supporting and working closely with College Trainer in sports medicine;
  • Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice; AND

• Master’s in nursing and a California Public Health Nurse certificate;
OR

• Bachelor’s in nursing AND a California Public Health Nurse certificate AND a master’s in health education, sociology, psychology, counseling, health care administration, public health or community health.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom;
  • Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes;
  • Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students;
  • A CPR Instructor’s Certificate;
  • An Audiometric Certificate;
  • General nursing experience;
  • Public health, school nurse/college nurse, occupational health nurse experience;
  • Ability to work in an independent health setting with a comprehensive team;
  • Ability to maintain confidential records;
  • Computer skills in maintenance of health information and data collection;
  • Ability to maintain a close liaison with students, staff, and local medical providers;
  • Ability to write nursing protocols;
  • Experience working with a diverse student population;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff in written and oral form;
  • Related work and professional experience;
  • Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth; and
  • Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
Salary and Benefits
Starting rates are $50.58 – $68.69 for lecture,$42.99 – $58.43 for lab, and $41.75 – $56.75 for non-instructional hours. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.

This is a part-time position (up to 23 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters only. Some evenings and Saturdays may be required.) Open until filled. Start dates may vary.
