Essential Functions of Position | Include, but are not limited to, teaching introductory public speaking, interpersonal communication, argumentation, persuasion, group communication and other courses offered by the department; and teaching in a variety of instructional settings and times (including days, evenings and Saturdays). Assignments may include classes on the Herndon campus in Clovis, California. |
Minimum Qualifications | Include an earned master’s degree in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication: OR bachelor’s degree in any of the above and master’s degree in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English; OR a valid California Community College credential; OR the equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency); AND demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. |
Desirable Qualifications | Experience teaching introductory public speaking, interpersonal communication, argumentation, persuasion, group communication and other courses offered by the department; experience in the development of new courses; experience with educational technologies (computer, personal response systems, on-line learning systems); working with students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff; and related work and professional experience. |
Salary and Benefits | Starting rates are $45.49 – $61.78 for lecture and $38.67 – $52.55 for lab Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours. |
