Job Description:

About the School of Business, Government, and Economics:

The School of Business, Government, and Economics (SBGE) at SPU has 26 faculty and eight staff serving about 500 undergraduate students in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Global Development Studies, and Political Science, as well as approximately 100 graduate students in three master's level programs (MBA, MS-IS, and MA in Management). The school is committed to providing a high-quality education through the lens of Christian faith and values and is distinguished by its emphasis on applied learning. It was the first within the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities membership to achieve secondary accreditation with the AACSB (in 2000) and has successfully maintained accreditation since. SPU is ranked a "Best National University" by US News and World Report for the 6th year in a row.  In addition, the School of Business, Government, and Economics was the first adopter within the Northwest Region of the UN's Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and is one of three PRME champion schools in the United States. Beyond such quality indicators, the faculty and staff within the school are a supportive community marked by collaborative teaching, scholarship, and service and commitment to the school's perspective on the purpose and practice of business.

Job Description:

Full-time, one-year position available September 2023. Appointment is in School of Business, Government and Economics ("SBGE")

Responsibilities:

Teach regular nine-month load including undergraduate and graduate courses, primarily in-person, in two of these disciplines: marketing, operations and finance;
Mentor students for personal, spiritual, and professional growth (academic advising is not required for visiting faculty); and 
Participate in SBGE academic life.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

PhD in related discipline (ABD considered) for appointment as an Assistant Professor or Master's + relevant professional experience for appointment as an Instructor or Clinical Professor;
Evidence of excellence in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels;
Evidence of scholarly and/or professional productivity;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Alignment/Commitment to the University's Christian mission (as expressed in the SPU Statement of Faith) and to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and
Personal commitment to the Christian faith.

Preferred Qualifications:

Versatility in teaching experience;
Strong professional background or applied-learning orientation; and
Experience working with diverse populations.

Position will remain open until filled.

Compensation and Benefits: 

Salary Range: $98,000-$110,000

Faculty salaries at Seattle Pacific University are based on nationally-normed, regionally-adjusted, and discipline-specific data from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). Specific salary offers will be determined by the level of education and years of relevant experience.
