Summary

The research fellow will work with Drs. Andrea Cassidy-Bushrow and Jennifer Straughen at HFHS on the CLEAR (Center for Leadership in Environmental Awareness and Research) Study which is part of the NIEHS Superfund Research program. This study seeks to enroll ~1100 pregnant women and measure exposures to volatile organic compounds and their association with preterm birth. In addition to one-on-one training and mentoring, successful candidates will have the opportunity to travel to conferences and obtain additional training through the CLEAR training core which is based at Wayne State University.

Required qualifications

Seeking talented and motivated candidates who wish to join projects focused on environmental and pregnancy research. The fellowship also offers opportunities for multi-disciplinary collaborations and professional development including preparation of scientific manuscripts, presentation at scientific conferences and participation in research grant proposal writing. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or similar degree, have an interest and some experience in research with a focus on reproductive and perinatal epidemiology and/or environmental epidemiology. Strong analytic skills and communication skills with experience in scientific writing are preferred.
