Description

We seek applicants for a full-time, 12-month position to assist the Dean in the administration of the Health Sciences division, with a focus on program and curriculum development.  The Associate Dean will provide leadership for the College’s nursing and EMS programs, ensuring accreditation requirements are upheld and serving as the primary administrative liaison.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and monitor curriculum
  • Assist the Dean in the hiring, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of faculty
  • Conduct course and program assessment
  • Schedule clinical facilities in collaboration with faculty, attend regional clinical planning meetings, and coordinate clinical placements as needed by various programs
  • Represent the program in local, state, and national organizations and meetings
  • Assist with budgeting and reporting
  • Assist the Dean in resolving student concerns
  • Teach as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing
  • Valid license to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois
  • Two years of teaching experience in an associate degree nursing program
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and inclusively within a diverse campus community

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years of managerial experience in a professional nursing program
  • Teaching experience in post-secondary education
  • Administrative experience in higher education, which may include performance evaluation, scheduling, and staffing
  • Experience with curriculum development and program review

EMPLOYEE LEAVE
Vacation: 20 days per year with a maximum annual carry-over of 40 days
Sick Leave: 12 days per year with unlimited annual carry-over
Holidays: 12 designated paid holidays plus 3 paid floating days
HCC is closed from Christmas Eve Day through New Year's Day generally resulting in 2-3 additional paid days
