Class Description

The Content Creator/Editor is an integral part of the College Communications team supporting communications and marketing initiatives by developing relevant and engaging content for print and web communications in a style and tone that conveys college-wide branding. Lead the creation, implementation, and governance of engaging content that tells the college’s story across various platforms and publications, with a focus on recruitment, enrollment, retention, and reputation.


Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field required, Master’s degree preferred. Five (5) years of experience in content writing and editing required. Knowledge of AP style required and understanding of marketing strategy preferred. Candidates selected for interviews will be required to submit writing samples.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Develop and maintain processes, tools, and strategies for the development and execution of content projects.
  2. Ensure and adhere to a task-and deadline-driven workflow by completing the appropriate scope and sequence of work within the timeline required at each phase.
  3. Problem solves to create high-quality content across multiple platforms maintaining AP and college standard guidelines. 
  4. Ensure all core content is consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice
  5. Coordinate core writing initiatives with the content team to produce original and adapted content that is clear, compelling and credible.
  6. Assist upper management in developing policies and procedures; monitors compliance with policies and procedures.
  7. Maintains department records and files, as required.
  8. Conduct and attend meetings, as required.
  9. Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.

Position Specific Essential Duties

  1. Create multipurpose content that supports the overarching content strategy for content marketing for CCBC. Responsible for writing, editing, repurposing and curating content – and providing insight for disseminating, auditing/updating content to maximize use and engagement. 
  2. Develop content for print and web communications in a style and tone that conveys college-wide brand while also considering the user experience and SEO so that content is both relevant, engaging and easily found.  
  3. Serve as editor and writer for college magazines, annual report and other high-profile publications.
  4. Responsible for conceiving, assigning, researching, writing and editing/proofing news, feature articles, marketing copy, web content, scripts and more to appeal to diverse audiences. 
  5. Collaborate with team members and generate new ideas and strategies to produce content that tells our story and is shared over multiple platforms. 
  6. Establish and maintain editorial guidelines for CCBC publications.
  7. Oversee department’s electronic content management duties including but not limited to updating website, Sharepoint, and email.
  8. Manage and maintain internal communications platform to keep employees informed.

Long-Term Disability

Plan pays 60% of gross monthly salary after 90 consecutive days of absence. Employee pays 100% of premium.

The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors:  TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc.  Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature.  Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. McDaniel College has extended its Educator’s Legacy Scholarship (ELS) program to CCBC benefits-eligible employees. CCBC is among the inaugural community college partners.

Children of ANY current full-time benefits-eligible CCBC employee with at least four years of continuous full-time employment are eligible to receive a scholarship valued at up to $100,000 over four (4) years.
