Finance Analyst II

Position Information

This is an On-Campus Position. The Financial Analyst (FA) has primary responsibility for financial analysis and controls for all School of Business non-payroll expenditures and contract revenue streams. In addition, the FA performs analysis, monitoring and administration of designated research and research center activities including human subjects’ payments and research center sponsorships. The FA is responsible for identification, analysis and resolution of account variances and errors, maintains fiscal integrity for all funds and ensures that funds are in auditable condition. In addition, the FA performs complex purchasing transactions, according to UC/UCR policies in a cost effective, ethical, efficient, timely and professional manner within a customer-service oriented environment. Purchases include a broad spectrum of materials, supplies, equipment, and services across various commodities to support research, teaching, and operational functions. The FA additionally organizes and validates data and analyzes complex quotes/contracts to ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner and expenses are charged appropriately against the correct fund source to minimize the need for expense transfers and ensure integrity of financial reporting.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to function as a member of a team.
Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information, organizes, and performs basic financial analysis assignments.
Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Some knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; service orientation; critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills.
Skill in creating/editing documents or spreadsheets utilizing using Word, Excel, PowerPoint or other software applications necessary for the responsibilities of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with UCR systems to include: eBuy (purchasing system),Concur, Financial System, Storehouse, Web Recharge system, P & R Work Order and ePay (online payment system), or other similar systems. Impact23 training

Work experience with UCR travel and entertainment policies and procedures; with travel planning and expense reporting using concur System

Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.

Experience in managing the fiscal year close process and the related internal controls
