10-Month Tenure Track Position
COMPENSATION: 
Initial salary placement ranges from $55,714 to $87,247 based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $116,888. A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. Representative Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teach all aspects of EMS courses.

Coordinate lab and simulation activities.

Maintain and promote industry relationships.

Demonstrate ethical and moral leadership principles.

Counsel and advise students.

Function as a team member in a  highly collaborative and dynamic work environment.

Curriculum review and expansion.

Comply with District policies and procedures in the performance of all duties.

Participate in staff development activities.

Serve on area and college-wide committees as necessary to support and enrich college programs, activities, and initiatives.

Demonstrating sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students and colleagues.

Promoting the success of a diverse student population through the use of effective counseling/advisement methods, models, and strategies and through the use of effective teaching methodologies.

Participating in assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, Program Review, Curriculum Development. 
 

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any bachelors' degree AND two (2) years of professional experience, OR any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
Must be currently licensed as a paramedic in the State of California. Must meet the minimum qualifications listed under California Title 22, Division 9, Chapter 4, Article 3, Section 100150 for Principle Instructor AND the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) / Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for EMS Professions (CoAEMSP), Standard III, Faculty / Instructional Staff-Lead Instructor / Qualifications.

Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's (MASTER's) degree from accredited institution
  • Experience in emergency medicine/pre-hospital care

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

Office, classroom, lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations.

Knowledge of Instructional methods

Teaching experience to deliver content, skills instruction and remediation

Knowledge of course content of the National EMS Educational Standards for EMT and Paramedic EMS Instructor Certification courses, high-fidelity simulation lab operation experience and demonstration of progressive leadership within an accredited EMS / Paramedic program.
