Position Description

This position will begin in July. This is 25 hours per week. 

This grant funded position works with refugee resettlement agencies for ELT assessment.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.  

*Coordinates with refugee resettlement agencies for ELT assessment of new refugee students 

 

*Maintains the ELT grant database on the Wake Tech computer network drive

 

*Assists the Instructional Coordinator in maintaining the RIS (Refugee Information Systems) tracking system of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)

 

*Assists Instructional Coordinator with completing reporting for the Office of Refugee Resettlement as needed and meets college project administrative deadlines

 

Administers assessments such as BEST Plus to new students

 

Organizes and participates in instructor in-service training, staff meetings, professional development as recommended by the Project Administrator

 

Assists the Instructional Coordinator in conducting site and class visits to identify students who may meet eligibility requirement for service under the grant, present career and educational resources to students, encourage retention, and disseminate pertinent information and resources to the staff and students

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Demonstrates knowledge of the field of refugee resettlement


Strong computer skills and a demonstrated working knowledge of Word and Excel


Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and listening skills 


Ability to relate, collaborate, and communicate well with individuals from all socio-economic levels and ethnic groups with respect and sensitivity


Self-directed, organized, task-oriented, detail oriented and flexible


Possesses well-developed analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills


Must work harmoniously with staff, faculty, and the general public

 

Minimum Requirements:


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university


Native-like fluency in English 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Work or volunteer experience with refugee populations


Experience teaching English language learners
