About the Job

The University of Minnesota Medical School is looking for the next Director of the Center for Immunology.

The Center for Immunology (CFI) is an interdisciplinary unit at the University of Minnesota Medical School devoted to advancing the field of immunology and educating future immunologists. Our mission is to coordinate and promote efforts in basic immunology research, education, and clinical applications at the University of Minnesota. Located in the recently constructed Wallin Medical Biosciences Building, we are part of the University's Biomedical Discovery District with extensive links to other laboratories in related disciplines. CFI faculty have tenure homes in many different departments and collaborate extensively across the University of Minnesota to drive interdisciplinary scientific discovery in the field of immunology. The CFI is supported by outstanding core facilities, excellent predoctoral and postdoctoral training programs, and a large clinical research enterprise.

The Director of the Center for Immunology will leverage their expertise as a frontrunner in the field of Immunology to promote the Center’s international, national, and local identity by leading a group of existing UMN faculty members and recruiting new faculty members to carry out the Center for Immunology’s mission. The Director will foster an environment of collegiality and collaboration between the Center, the Medical School, and other colleges within the University of Minnesota system with the goal of establishing the Center as a resource for immunology information, research collaboration, and education. Finally, there will be opportunities to engage with industry partners to create scientific collaboration, to work with the University Foundation to garner philanthropic support, and to oversee assignments of laboratory space and allocations of the Center’s budget.
