Position Summary

The faculty is responsible for the day-to-day activities in their respective discipline(s). Special functions may include recommending class scheduling, providing information for budget planning, advisement, student recruitment, registration, working with student organizations, appropriate record keeping, and teaching all assigned classes.

SALARY:  Commensurate with experience and education as determined on Salary Schedule D1 of the Alabama State Board of Education salary schedules. The salary range listed is for a 9-month contract. Instructors receiving a 3-month summer contract will receive additional pay. Please see the appropriate Salary Schedule for salary ranges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Faculty will teach classes as assigned. Classes may be scheduled during the day, evening, on-campus or off-campus.

  2. Utilize instructional equipment and software.

  3. Act in an advisory capacity to students in completing plans of study, course scheduling, and career advisement.

  4. Assist the Division Chair in identifying qualified adjunct faculty.

  5. Serve as faculty mentors for new faculty.

  6. Maintain updated course syllabi for all courses taught.

  7. Provide a syllabus to and discuss with all students enrolled in each class taught.

  8. Review and recommend appropriate revision of curriculum periodically.

  9. Assist in the development of course offerings.

  10. Maintain all records as needed for the instructional program.

  11. Participate on College committees as assigned.

  12. Review and update on a regular basis the LRC collection related to appropriate area of study or discipline.

  13. Provide library assignments to students.

  14. Maintain professional conduct in dealing with students, staff, administration, faculty, and the College community.

  15. Adhere to prescribed policies of the College.

  16. Assist College personnel in the recruitment of students.

  17. Participate in the planning and budgeting processes of the division.

  18. Collaborate with other instructors in program or discipline to create program and student learning outcomes; work with Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Quality to gather assessment data; and enter planning and assessment information into the Outcomes Management System as assigned.

  19. Dispense and submit necessary reports, grades, and Institutional Effectiveness data in a timely manner.

  20. Assist in enforcing all college policies.

  21. Return course work and tests to students in a timely manner.

  22. Attend meetings as required.

  23. Ensure a safe environment for student learning.

  24. Continue professional development through professional organizations, seminars, etc., to maintain and improve teaching skills.

  25. Maintain the appropriate professional licensure and/or certification as appropriate.

  26. Serve as student organization sponsors and advisors as assigned.

  27. Verify class rolls as instructed by the Registrar.

  28. Complete reports to verify students’ attendance as instructed by Registrar and/or Director of Financial Aid.

  29. Submit mid-term and final grade reports on all students.

  30. Perform other duties related to instruction as assigned.

Qualifications

Master's degree in business with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in accounting from a regionally accredited institution.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is equivalent to 7 hours per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions.  Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control.   The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA.  The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy.  The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
