Summary of Position | Plymouth State University seeks a motivated person with a positive attitude who is an experienced Grounds Worker to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks and supply labor related to grounds and maintenance. Under direct supervision of the Grounds Manager this position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of a very high-visibility areas including responsibility for the day-to-day operations of all gardens; including weed control, design and creation of all new gardens and plantings. The Grounds Worker/Gardener also assists the Grounds Manager to select contractors for maintaining the over 2,000 trees University wide, as well as provide input on capital projects for plantings and landscape for both new projects and renovations. This position is full time, 40 hours per. week, $16/hr. depending upon experience, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. #LI-KG1 |

Duties / Responsibilities
Job Duties
Duty/Responsibility | Perform tasks relating to the installation and maintenance of trees, shrubs and flowers including pruning, cabling, fertilization, irrigation, insect/weed control and removal as required. Design and creation of all new gardens and plantings. Work with selected Contractors that inventories and assists in maintaining over 2000 trees. Reviews and gives input on capital projects for planting selections recommended by landscape architects for new construction/renovations of campus buildings. |

Duty/Responsibility | Perform tasks related to construction, installation and maintenance of sidewalls, patios, retaining walls, benches, sign standards, stairs and sweeping and maintaining of hard surface areas |

Duty/Responsibility | Operate and maintain equipment to perform above tasks, including tractors, dump/plow trucks, lawnmowers, trimmers, chain saws, bucket trucks, rototillers, sand/salt spreaders and snow blowers, etc. |

Duty/Responsibility | Report under emergency conditions such as snow removal, down trees and storm water maintenance as required. |
