Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher! Work directly with a professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering program to complete a project on Drone and Machine learning. The multi-disciplinary project is on the development of an automated drone-based inspection system for online condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, and reliability prediction of wind turbine blades. 

Summary of Responsibilities

  • (60%) Develops algorithms for crack and anomaly detection via RGB camera using fuzzy systems and deep learning methods and architectures. 
  • (30%) Works with the PI, a Postdoctoral researcher and undergraduate students on writing papers to be submitted to conferences and journals, creating multiple posters based on the obtained results, and presenting them at various events. 
  • (10%) Preforms other job-related duties as assigned including but not limited to data and image collection.

Minimum Qualifications

PH.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Computer Science from a regionally accredited institution.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Solid knowledge of computer vision and deep learning as well as programming with Python and MATLAB. 
Must have extensive experience in the following areas.

Image processing/Computer vision and OpenCV.
  • Proficient in Python libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, matplot, Spacy, ect. 
  • Deep learning -Tensorflow, Keras, and Pytorch 
  • Evidence of solid experience in scholarly research 
  • A strong commitment to excellence in education
