JOB SUMMARY
This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching in the Community Education department. The pool will remain open unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available. The adjunct instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work. The adjunct instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the college. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
 

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instructs students in assigned subject matter in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate. 
  • Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate. 
  • Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course. 
  • Maintains accurate records of student attendance and academic progress. 
  • Recognizes individual differences in the classroom and adapts instructional techniques accordingly. 
  • Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed.
  • Represents the Continuing Education Department and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department. 
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, as well as to move about the campus.
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, and use of computers.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, stooping, and bending (up to 20 lbs.). 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.  
  • A minimum of one year of experience in the requested course field. Prior teaching experience is preferred.
