Job Summary
1. Will act as a part-time forensics lab assistant under the guidance and supervision of the lab coordinator
2. Will provide tutoring services to criminal justice students. If the candidate is bilingual they will also assist ESL students in the self support programs.
3. Will provide clerical and customer service support for the Institute of Public Safety. This will include maintaining and updating office files, operating office equipment, answering phones and assisting the public at the desk and keeping department office work spaces tidy.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Criminal Justice student
Preferred Qualifications
  • Criminal Justice-Forensics focus student
  • Knowledge of SLCC’s Banner and Etrieve computer systems.
  • Knowledge of SLCC procedures and requirements.
  • Bilingual
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Basic understanding of work place safety and use of personal protection equipment.
  • Ability to work in a lab setting safely
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to type and operate basic office equipment
  • Strong verbal skills
  • Solid understanding of Criminal Justice concepts
  • Detail focused.
  • General office procedures with experience in Micro Soft Office programs, phones, faxes, copiers, printers, and be able to type 30 wpm. Strong verbal communication skills (listening, speaking, questioning).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
