Job Title: Associate Veterinarian
Department: Administration
FLSA Status: Full-Time Exempt
Reports To: Director of Veterinary Services and Animal Care
General Scope: Provides high-quality surgery and medical care for public and shelter animals, including but not limited to spay/neuter, treatment of various medical conditions, and wellness.
Essential Function/Major Responsibilities:
- Examine, diagnose, and treat public-owned and shelter dogs and cats presented for wellness or other veterinary care.
- Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter services for public-owned and shelter animals to help control pet overpopulation.
- Perform other appropriate surgical services or procedures as needed for public-owned and shelter animals.
- Oversee pre-and post-operative care of animals.
- Assist in disease management protocol development and execution, including vaccinating, laboratory testing, and treatment.
- Provide and direct clinical supervision of registered veterinary technicians and animal care technicians in planning and administering treatments to animals.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all staff members and volunteers, both within the veterinary clinic and with SICSA as a whole.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience, and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of veterinary and shelter medicine; the most current veterinary practice and techniques relating to the treatment of injured and ill animals, and animal diseases and their prevention, control, and eradication. Understands the limits of shelter medicine;
- Surgical skills, with an emphasis on high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries for cats and dogs;
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and volunteers;
- Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns;
- Willingness to adapt to and remain calm in a constantly-changing and stressful work environment;
- Unwavering compassion for helping animals in need
Minimum Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications Required:
- Graduation from a college or university accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Medical Doctor degree.
- Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Ohio
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and manipulate (lift, carry, and move) up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to be around animals of varying temperament in, occasionally, noisy environments.
- Other light physical demands (i.e., spending hours listening and talking).
- Responsible for presenting a neat and professional appearance to the public at all times.

Job Title: Help Center Program Manager
Department: Adoptions and Alternative Services
FLSA Status: Full-Time Exempt
Reports To: Director of Adoptions and Alternative Services
General Scope: The SICSA Help Center provides support and resources for people and their pets. The Help Center Program Manager is responsible for strategizing, implementing, and maintaining program initiatives that align with department and organizational objectives. The position also ensures high-quality, compassionate customer service; establishes and meets program goals; mentors and supervises staff and volunteers; provides program structure; and keeps organized and detailed records. This position reports to the Director of Adoptions and Alternative Services and works closely with other SICSA programs and departments, including Adoptions, Community Engagement, Animal and Foster Care, Cat Lifesaving, and the Veterinary
Clinic.
Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:
- Accomplish strategic goals by effectively organizing resources and overseeing multiple initiatives and services.
- Create and maintain efficient program processes and communication.
- Communicate effectively across various programs and departments to improve
operational efficiency. - Establish goals, monitor progress, and adjust as needed.
- Assist in the development of annual revenue and expense budgets; monitor program income and expenditures.
- Track and compile detailed data related to Help Center services.
- Anticipate opportunities for growth, and research and implement new processes and services that help keep pets in their homes.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure this is the standard throughout the team.
- Serve as a team leader and ensure a supportive and compassionate team culture; model and encourage collaborative, positive, and enthusiastic work behaviors throughout the organization.
- Supervise, motivate, mentor, and evaluate the program’s staff following SICSA protocols and policies. Direct supervisory responsibilities for a team of 8-10 people.
- Maintain current knowledge of and effective relationships with other animal welfare organizations and other external agencies, as needed.
- Contribute to and support fundraising efforts, including participation in special events.

Other Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record as defined by SICSA’s current insurance carrier.
- Must have a philosophy that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
- Available to work a Sunday-Thursday core schedule.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in program and personnel management
- Experience working directly with animals and knowledge of animal welfare is a plus but not required.
