Position Summary
The Department of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) is offering a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics and IU Center for Aging Research at Regenstrief Institute focused on long term care and health policy. We are looking for a person interested in clinical research, implementation of programs, and exploring the impact of different models of care for older adults with serious chronic diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. This person will join a team, under the primary mentorship of Dr. Nicole Fowler, focused on improving the experience of older adults with cognitive impairment and their informal caregivers.

The Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine is the largest division in the School of Medicine and featured a research portfolio of over $20 million in FY2021 and has many initiatives and collaborations with Centers, Institutes, and Programs throughout the University and with other academic and health care institutions. https://medicine.iu.edu/internal-medicine/specialties/general

IU Center for Aging Research is part of the Regenstrief Institute and is a national leader in clinical and applied aging research that includes a diverse group of 16 faculty members who collaborate together and with investigators around the world on research to develop, test, and implement innovative strategies to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare and self-care for medically and socially vulnerable older adults and their caregivers. https://www.regenstrief.org/centers/iu-center-for-aging-research/

Opportunities and responsibilities include:
  • Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative research involving older adults with long term care needs. This includes involvement in funded grants, participating in analysis of data, writing manuscripts, and new grant development.

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate or terminal degree required
  • Recent PhD in nursing, sociology, gerontology, health policy, public health or a related field, or MD with a strong background and interest in clinical research.
  • Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
  • Accomplished academic research and writing skills.
