Our Story

Sequoia was founded in October 2020 in response to the growing need for teen mental health services. Since then, we have continually added to our team of clinicians with the goal of providing empathetic, compassionate, and evidence-based services throughout Seattle. We have striven, in particular, to support communities that have been traditionally underserved in mental health care, with our clinicians specializing in supporting BIPOC and LGBTQ+ young people.

We currently operate out of our office in Eastlake, as well as offering telehealth options throughout Washington State.

Our Ethical Approach

At the heart of the Sequoia operation is a belief in conducting ourselves ethically. We believe that we have strong responsibilities to our clients, our employees, and our community.

As part of our commitment, we offer the following:

  • A sliding scale for client payments. To ensure equitable access for clients of all socioeconomic statuses, we offer a sliding payment scale for our services. To discuss eligibility with our team, email hello@sequoiateencounseling.com

  • A scholarship fund for underserved youth. We offer scholarship sessions to clients identifying as BIPOC and/or trans. To discuss eligibility with our team, email hello@sequoiateencounseling.com

  • An employee profit share scheme. All of our employees and contractors are included in our profit share scheme, whereby 10% of net profits are shared with the team each quarter.

  • Good pay and benefits. All of our team members receive full benefits and a high rate of pay. Our clinicians choose how many client hours they take on, ensuring work-life balance and reducing burn-out.

  • Professional Development and Supervision. All of our clinicians have a professional development and supervision budget to ensure that they are able to continue their professional journey without being forced to self-fund.

With input from our team members, clients, and community, we are committed to increasing and supplementing our ethical practices as Sequoia continues to grow.
