Description

History Adjunct Instructor

The individual instructor is the key figure in the educational pattern of the college, and his/her attitude, personality, skill, character, and initiative will determine how well the college fulfills its objectives. He/she plays a prominent role in curriculum development through continual evaluation.

Duties

  1. Teaches all classes and labs as assigned
  2. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the subject
  3. Communicates with students the goals, objectives, and expectations of the course
  4. Assigns learning activities which promote understanding of the course content
  5. Keeps accurate records of attendance and grades and submits all reports and other requested information promptly and accurately
  6. Maintains discipline in the classroom
  7. Attends faculty meetings and other required meetings as prescribed
  8. Meets all classes promptly and regularly and begins and ends class on time
  9. Participates actively in professional development opportunities in the discipline
  10. Effectively communicates with, cooperates with and supports other college personnel in daily activities
  11. Supports the College mission implicitly and explicitly in the daily execution of all duties and responsibilities
  12. Participates in Institutional Effectiveness activities
  13. Represents the College in a professional manner as evidenced by dress, demeanor and the discharge of daily responsibilities

Qualifications and Required Documents

Minimum of a Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in the subject area is required.  Demonstration of excellent communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, and flexibility is required.  Preference will be given to applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Evidence of success working with students, pre-college through higher education
  • Willingness to establish positive relationships with related professional organizations
  • Successful teaching experience on the college level
