Job Summary

Serve as a essential resource to the College by ensuring implementation of appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities per Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Essential Duties

Conducting intake interviews to evaluate students' abilities and request for academic accommodations, to ensure implementation of appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities with faculty and staff.

Providing advocacy and liaison services to students with disabilities concerning accommodations, other ADA issues, or other support services as necessary.

Attend trainings to maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal laws (504/508 and ADA) pertaining to serving people with disabilities in post-secondary education setting.

Ensure implementation of appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities by working with internal stakeholders on program oversight and modification to ensure accessibility for students with disabilities.

Provide training/ workshops to staff and faculty to educate and promote disabilityawareness.

Maintains an electronic database, enters and retrieves information and assist in the development of processes and procedures for continued operations of AccessibilityResources.

Attend community events that provide opportunities to education and inform thepublic of Accessibility Resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree with an emphasis in Higher Education Disability Services, Secondary Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, or related from a regional accredited institution.

Three years of demonstrated experience in higher education providing accommodations and academic guidance to college students with disabilities.

Cultural competence in working with college students with disabilities, deaf culture and deaf history.

Ability to interpret documentation to determine, administer and manage accommodations for college students with disabilities.

Experience in institutional accessibility and disability policy development, implementation, dissemination, administration, management, oversight, and training.

Knowledge of guidelines endorsed by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and the Higher Learning Commission for higher education institutions.

Knowledge of articulation agreements and coordination of programs with other colleges, universities, and community agencies.

Attention to detail, communication skills, and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Fluent in American Sign Language.
