Description

We seek applicants for a full-time Librarian position to coordinate the College's information literacy instruction program, lead and coordinate outreach efforts, and provide general support for successful daily operations of the Library.


General responsibilities include but are not limited to 
  • Lead the development of the information literacy instruction program; coordinate and conduct information literacy instruction classes in-person, at remote locations, and online
  • Develop and implement assessment procedures in conformity with the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) Framework Standards and the College’s Essential Competencies
  • Provide reference and research assistance
  • Lead and coordinate outreach activities within the Library and with various College departments, including displays, events, and social media content 
  • Develop and maintain online tutorials and research guides in collaboration with other Librarians
  • Participate in collection development with multiple subject areas
  • Assist in acquisitions, database maintenance, interlibrary loans, circulation, overdues, and other library duties 
  • Assist the Director in development/revision of procedures, policies, mission statement, goals, and data collection and analysis 
  • Assist with library/faculty liaison responsibilities and library promotion

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school

  • Public service experience, including reference consultations

  • Demonstrated ability to work with digital library resources

  • Ability to work with diverse populations and utilize sound professional judgment

  • Demonstrated excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • One year of experience in an academic library setting
  • Collection development experience in a variety of subjects
  • Familiarity with the creation of online research guides and video tutorial
  • Experience with Springshare online services platform and Canvas Learning Management System

EMPLOYEE LEAVE
Vacation: 20 days per year with a maximum annual carry-over of 40 days
Sick Leave: 12 days per year with unlimited annual carry-over
Holidays: 12 designated paid holidays plus 3 paid floating days
HCC is closed from Christmas Eve Day through New Year's Day generally resulting in 2-3 additional paid days
