Job Summary | The lab instructor will coordinate with the full time faculty and department chair to facilitate hands on instruction with the students while working in the lab environment. Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process. Provide instructional support to the chair, dean, and students. |
Required Qualifications | High School Diploma or equivalent Certificate in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience to include classroom, lab, or welding experience Computer literate Communication skills with public speaking and strong organizational skills |
Preferred Qualifications | College and/or high school teaching experience Associate’s degree in related field |
Essential Functions | Prepare the labs for classroom and lab activities Maintain, clean, and keep records of the tools, supplies and lab equipment Monitor and maintain the safe use of equipment in the labs and compound area including student safety and equipment safety Instruct the students in the proper use and application of the software and equipment used in the labs Assist students with lab assignments Maintain records of student activities performed in the lab Instruct and assist other MC personnel and students in the proper use and application lab equipment as required Other duties as assigned |
Physical Demands | Frequently moves equipment or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time Use of manual dexterity Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information The person in this position needs to occasionally move from office to other locations on and off campus Office and classroom setting Duties indoors and some outdoors Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events |
Security Sensitivity | All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation. |
Min Salary | $30.00 per hour |
Max Salary | $30.00 per hour |
Pay Statement | Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience. |
