Under the direction of the Director of High School Outreach & Educational Partnerships, the Career Pathway Coordinator plans and evaluates the operations and activities related to Early College Initiatives including dual enrollment and College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) agreements in partnership with various K-12 districts. The Career Pathway Coordinator works collaboratively with K-12 partners, LBCC faculty, and other departments to offer dual enrollment opportunities that align the CA Governor’s Roadmap, Vision 2030 of the CA Community College Chancellor’s Office, and leverages funding sources such as Strong Workforce, Perkins, and other grant funding.  Early College Initiatives aim to expand equitable access to dual enrollment, be  responsive to the needs of the students, and align with labor market demand.

Duties

GENERAL PURPOSE

Coordinates and organizes the day-to-day development and implementation of assigned career pathway services including early college credit opportunities, work-based learning, and academic support programs; supports  career pathway and career and technical education grants and special projects; assists in evaluating, budgeting, marketing, and formal reporting of projects and services; collaborates extensively with internal and external stakeholders including faculty, counselors, students, employers, secondary districts and four-year institutions; and performs related duties as assigned.  

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This Career Pathways Coordinator is distinguished from the Career Development Center Coordinator in that the Career Pathways Coordinator has a focus on implementation of each of the core elements of career pathways support services that have an organic intersection including, supporting students in their career pathway via secondary to postsecondary transitional services and organizing comprehensive work-based learning activities in conjunction with the student’s current field of study and/or pathway coursework in high school.   The Career Development Center Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and overseeing the day-to-day activities and services of an assigned Career and Job Services Center. Incumbents in the latter classification are responsible for obtaining and maintaining Center resources and materials, coordinating and conducting campus and community outreach career and job services efforts, coordinating and organizing the District’s annual career fair, providing information and guidance to students on career and vocational paths, job placements, job assessments, college entrance, and counseling services provided by the Center.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field; and   two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in coordinating and delivering services similar to those provided in career pathway models or career and technical education programs, at least one of which involved working with grant project implementation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

May require a valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance policy.
