General Summary

Essential Tasks

Responsible for teaching a variety of college-level physics courses, including Calculus and Algebra-based Physics, Physics for non-science majors, Engineering 100 Orientation to Engineering Careers, and STEM 101 Pathway to STEM Success. Design courses, prepare course materials, provide instruction, and ensure student performance for college-level coursework, using online course management technology, including online, hybrid, and off-campus sections. Teach Physics lab sections and manage and purchase lab equipment as needed. Participate in departmental, college, and professional service activities. Participate in faculty development opportunities related to discipline, program, and/or methods of teaching. Strengthen the department's collaborations internally and externally and contribute to the college's efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion through development of holistic data models and action plans.  Position may include additional duties that utilize the required skills.
 
Teaching on-line classes is permitted up to 100% with approval from VP for Academic Affairs and ability to hold office hours on campus for students and meetings with colleagues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a Master of Science degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field and two years of experience as a Physics Lecturer, or Graduate Research Associate or related.

Experience must include: prepare and teach college-level coursework for physics, including calculus-based physics, and related; design and grade quizzes, assignments, and course exams for physics coursework at the college level; incorporate inclusive teaching practices founded on scholarship of teaching and learning for diverse student populations; mentor undergraduate level research projects in physics, and promote diverse student success; develop physics models to capture complex systems for experiential data, computational modeling, and stochastic methods analysis; experience teaching and outreach with high school populations; prior successful work with a diverse student population; and demonstrate cultural responsiveness leadership in interactions with students and co-workers through communities of practice, community service and student clubs.
 
Will accept paid or unpaid internship, research or co-op experience gained during academic studies.
