Established by the Nebraska legislature in 1973 following the merger of two separate and distinct institutions—Northeastern Nebraska College and Northeast Nebraska Technical College, Northeast Community College is a comprehensive community college offering vocational/technical, liberal arts, and college transfer degrees, together with continuing education courses. Northeast Community College is a modern, unique two-year college with its own identity and recognized as a world-class, rural community college. Northeast is located at the northeast edge of Norfolk, Nebraska (population 24,210), which is approximately 120 miles northwest of Omaha, Nebraska, located at the junction of U.S. Highways 275 and 81.

Drug Free Schools and Communities Act/Annual Security Report

In compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Amendment of 1989, Public Law 101-226, Northeast Community College must notify existing and potential employees regarding alcohol and drug related matters: (1) Code of Conduct; (2) Possible legal sanctions and penalties; (3) Statements of the health risks associated with alcohol or drug abuse; (4) Alcohol or drug abuse programs available to students, staff, and faculty; and (5) disciplinary sanctions for violations of the Code of Conduct. The safety and security of all students, employees, and guests of the campus community are of major importance to Northeast Community College. It is the purpose of the College to provide safety and security measures on all campuses which will allow the students to experience a college environment conducive to a good learning experience and void of the threats of criminal activity. Our goal is to provide an experience which is free of crime and substance abuse for all students, employees, and guests. The annual security report contains three years of campus crime statistics and certain campus security policy statements. These publicized statistics are meant to inform students, employees and applicants of the nature and amount of crimes that occur on and around Northeast Community College property.
