Assistant Professor of Practice in Psychology (specialization open)

The Psychology Program of Plymouth State University invites candidates to apply for a full-time, renewable, Assistant Professor of Practice position in Psychology, beginning August, 2024.
The successful candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching. Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, Introduction to General Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics I and II, and other existing courses in the Psychology Program in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to our campus-wide Integrated Cluster Learning Model, advise undergraduate students, and provide service to the university. We are particularly interested in candidates who can successfully teach Behavioral Neuroscience and courses within our Mental Health degree option.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Psychology or related field
  • A minimum of one year of undergraduate-level teaching experience in Psychology
  • Demonstrated potential for excellent teaching
  • Skills to serve as an academic advisor and mentor for undergraduate students
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Competence in online teaching
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Psychology
  • A minimum of two years of full-time undergraduate-level teaching experience in Psychology
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative teaching techniques
  • Experience in teaching Behavioral Neuroscience, Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, and Statistics
  • Experience in academic advising and career planning
  • Experience developing interdisciplinary curricula
  • Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships with other programs and organizations on and off campus that relate to the candidate’s area of specialization
