Position Summary
The Senior Director of Development, Arts and Sciences, reports to the Executive Director of Development, Arts and Sciences, and will serve as a senior fundraiser for Arts and Sciences, working directly with a dean, other senior college leaders, and faculty, to develop and solicit six-figure gifts and greater, when possible.

The Senior Director will collaborate with the Executive Director and Dean to develop and execute a fundraising strategy.

Some travel and evening/weekend work is required.

Essential Functions
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of the vision and strategic priorities for Fordham University and the Schools of Arts and Sciences, and the Orthodox Christian Studies Center.
  • Guided by the university’s, the school’s, and the center’s priorities, and in consultation with the executive director, develops and executes short- and long-term strategic major gift fundraising plans and solicitations.
  • Cultivates new and existing donor relationships with innovative/meaningful cultivation opportunities and solicits gifts independently or in partnership with the dean, faculty, senior leaders, alumni, volunteers, the Arts and Sciences development team, and other DAUR colleagues.
  • Identifies and recruits potential members to serve on the school or center’s advisory council.
  • In support of college priorities and initiatives, prepares case statements, give menus, and marketing materials in collaboration with the Dean, University Marketing, and others.
  • Collaborates with colleagues throughout the DAUR division to ensure effective, efficient, and coordinated fund-raising strategies and assist, where needed, in reunions and important university-wide special events.
  • Advances and supports the University’s Jesuit mission and identity.
  • Demonstrates competency in using standard office software (MS Office &/or Google Office) and fundraising applications (such as Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, Ellucian CRM Advance, and Tapestry).

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, business, or related field.
  • Eight or more years of progressively responsible development experience in a higher education setting and/or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Experience in a university setting with strong face-to-face donor solicitation experience; proven track record of fundraising success in six-figure major gift solicitations.
  • Stature and experience to effectively advise the dean and faculty on fundraising strategies and to represent giving opportunities and priorities to colleagues, alumni, volunteers, donors, and prospects.

  • Expected to carry out duties in a manner consistent with DAUR’s core values.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree.
  • Experience with seven-figure solicitations, including the development of sophisticated solicitations for principal gift prospects and donors.
  • Experience using Blackbaud’s Fundraiser Performance Management Platform and Ellucian’s CRM Advance.
  • Intellectual curiosity to pursue opportunities in a wide range of interest areas.
Minimum Starting Salary $130,000
Maximum Starting Salary $145,000
Note Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
