Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Supervise, train, and develop lifeguard student staff. Support the management of aquatic operations and events for 2 indoor pools and 2 outdoor pools. Teach assigned courses within and outside of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Experience:
  • At least two (2) years of experience working in a collegiate or community recreation aquatic environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated training and teaching skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through programming, mentoring, or training.
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Master’s degree.
  • Possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT) certification.
  • Experience with aquatic events.
Additional Certifications:
Certifications:
  • Possess and maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguard (LG).
  • Possess and maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Certification.
  • Possess and maintain current PHTA CPO/ NRPA AFO Certification.
Additional Information:
This position has a major responsibility to supervise, train, and develop lifeguard student staff (60%), support the management of aquatic operations and events for 2 indoor pools and 2 outdoor pools (20%), teach assigned courses within and outside of the department (10%), and other related duties (10%). Some evening and weekend work required.

Full-time professional exempt staff position with full benefits. Benefits include but are not limited to: 22 days annual leave, 14 paid holidays, 3 days personal leave, 15 days sick leave; University contributions to health insurance and retirement plans; tuition remission.

Salary Range: $65,000 – $69,000.

Physical Demands
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work outdoors to open, manage, and close the outdoor pools.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negotiable amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, like packing and transporting equipment.
  • Other work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Ability to travel around campus for meetings and to attend to duties.
  • Some weekend and evening work will be required.
