General Summary
This position will maintain up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field and teach Learning Frameworks (EDUC/PSYC 1300) in a face to face classroom setting in Odessa College campus. Position will attend specific EDUC/PSYC 1300 teacher training at the Professional Learning Center.
Specific Position Duties
  • Attends appropriate professional learning opportunities directly related to EDUC/PSYC 1300;
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various times, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college; 
  • Utilizes pre-made course and upholds specific course content and coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners; 
  • Provides students with written expectations, e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc.; 
  • Administers course approved content, including a final project measuring overall grasp of course objectives; 
  • By ways and means of instructing students, affirms the worth and dignity of all persons and the right of all persons to learn; 
  • Maintains an appropriate learning and assessment climate in the classroom, whether traditional, web, or distance, which encourages the free exchange of ideas while defending academic honesty and objectivity; 
  • Prepares adequately for class and arrives promptly at class meetings and any other scheduled instructional activities; 
  • Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner; Computer literacy; 
  • Addresses student concerns, i.e., comments, questions, and input, both in class and online, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means; reports to Dean of the school for related EDUC/PSYC 1300 specific questions.
  • Ability to teach students from a wide spectrum of ages and from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, including high school students enrolled in dual credit classes; 
  • Possess excellent work ethic; and Documented commitment to teaching excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher AND a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate course hours in the teaching discipline (e.g. – Education or Psychology) or related field.
