Position Overview

Essential Job Duties
  • Design and conduct experiments to investigate Pinus taeda-Cqf pathogen interactions, employing cutting-edge techniques and methodologies.
  • Analyze and interpret research data, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to the overall success of ongoing projects.
  • Stay abreast of recent advancements in the field of plant-biotic interactions.
  • Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research outcomes at conferences and scientific meetings to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, fostering a cooperative and interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Engage with colleagues and students, providing mentorship and support as needed.
  • Assist in developing grant proposals to secure additional funding for ongoing and future research projects.


Duties and Responsibilities
A post-doctoral research position to work on the population genetics of Cronartium quercuum fusiforme fungus (Cqf) and the identification of putative effector loci in the genome.
Other Work/Responsibilities
Contribute to ongoing tree improvement activities in the greenhouse and laboratory. Participate in sample and data collection in the field as necessary.
Requirements and Preferences

Work Schedule 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday
Department Required Skills
Bioinformatics skills and experience with sequence data analysis are essential. The candidate should have strong project management, reporting, and dissemination skills.

  • Proven track record of research productivity demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented research environment.
  • Desire and ability to work collaboratively and respectfully and inclusively in a diverse, multicultural, multidisciplinary work environment.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
  • Ph.D. in Plant Biology, Plant Pathology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Strong background in plant-biotic interactions, bioinformatics, QTL discovery/validation, sequence data analysis, and genome assembly.
