Position Overview
Essential Job Duties | The selected candidate will work under the direct guidance of Dr. Michael Nolan (radiation/cancer biologist and veterinary radiation oncologist). Significant mentorship will also be provided by key collaborators: Drs. Santosh Mishra (neurobiologist), and Duncan Lascelles (translational pain researcher and oncologic surgeon). The scholar will work with other lab members to lead NIH-funded research projects, studying mechanisms of pain, and impacts of pain signaling on tumor progression. The projects involve benchtop cell culture experiments, studies using genetically engineered mouse models, behavioral testing, and potential involvement in co- clinical trials in both humans and animal (pet dogs/cats) with naturally occurring cancer. NC State provides an outstanding academic environment for professional growth and development. And we are part of an exceptional community of researchers in neurobiology, as well as cancer, radiation, and pain biology/medicine; there are excellent core facilities and resources both at NC State, and our partnering institutions: Duke University and the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill). |
