As an academic unit in University College at NC State, the Department of Performing Arts and Technology has a mission of providing an environment where all NC State students have opportunities to develop skills and knowledge, which prepares them for a lifetime of arts engagement and a variety of careers. We cultivate this environment through excellence in teaching, performance, service, outreach, and creative and scholarly work in arts entrepreneurship, dance, music, and music technology.

The Department of Performing Arts and Technology offers a variety of technique, ensemble, and lecture courses. The Department has a new major in Music Technology and also provides academic minors in Dance Studies, Dance Performance and Choreography, Music Studies, Music Performance, and Arts Entrepreneurship. The Performing Arts and Technology department at North Carolina State University seeks applications for applied music lecturers in all instrument areas with an emphasis on Tuba and French Horn (other instruments may be needed in the future) to provide individual instruction for students who register for applied lessons. Responsibilities include teaching 13 weekly, 45-minute lessons per student and participation in the end–of–semester juried exams. This position is part-time; the time commitment and compensation are determined by the number of assigned students.
