Occupational Summary

Under the general guidance of the Program Coordinator, the Welding Instructor is responsible for supervising and training students in Welding courses. This position requires flexible working hours; day, evening and possibly weekends.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses to meet program needs 
  • Integrate classroom and hands-on experience enabling students to demonstrate competencies
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
  • Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students' needs
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of the class
  • Maintain class records; prepare and submit instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy
  • Follow all safety and security procedures and notify the campus leadership of deficiency
  •  Provide feedback to program supervisor regarding student progress and/or comprehension of course content in classroom or in theory classes
  • Ensures confidentiality of all student records and student information
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skill in subject specialty
  • Motivate and encourage students to successfully complete their program
  • Promote community awareness of program opportunities
  • Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College

Minimum Qualifications

Certified AWS and/or NCCER preferred.

Prior postsecondary related teaching experience of at least 1 (one) year in subject matter is highly preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors and staff
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Ability to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom
