Cultivate Hope Food & Beverage Manager

Our Cultivate Hope program, which comprises the Matthew 25 Urban Farm, Groundswell Cafe, Corner store and Education programs is looking for a leader to oversee all food and beverage offerings across all these programs and spaces. This role will directly manage the Groundswell Cafe manager and the Catering and Events coordinator. The successful applicant will be innovative, creative and very people and process driven in order to deliver food and beverage offerings that are scalable and that delight our customers, clients and supporters. This person will be Solutions driven, have unwavering integrity, be collaborative and inspired to act.

Groundswell Cafe Manager

Matthew 25 is seeking a manager for Groundswell Cafe. Our Groundswell Cafe is the only pay-it-forward cafe concept in Cedar Rapids and the successful candidate for this role will have experience in food preparation and production, have excellent interpersonal skills and will live our values with particular focus on being a compassionate collaborator and consistently striving for reliable excellence. They will be responsible for managing the cafe team of paid and volunteer staff and will collaborate closely with the catering and events coordinator. This candidate also possesses empathy and a caring attitude to serve all Cafe guests, regardless of their ability to pay.

Groundswell Catering and Events Coordinator

Matthew 25 is seeking a caring and dedicated professional to join our team as our Groundswell Catering and Events Coordinator. This role is a great opportunity for someone with a hospitality background who has a real skill for sales and flair for project management. They will also have experience designing menu offerings and in food production. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager for Cultivate Hope, this person will be responsible for owning our events and catering offering at the Groundswell event space, and also creating opportunities at our Urban Farm and Corner Store, in collaboration with all of the Cultivate Hope Programs. This position will deal directly with event and catering enquiries to translate those into sales and beautifully executed events. This position will also develop and deliver the Good meals to go offering and baked goods for the cafe and corner store on a daily basis.  They will be solutions driven and motivated to deliver reliable excellence.

Groundswell Cafe Team Member

Matthew 25’s Groundswell Cafe is a leader in providing healthy food to all people. As a pay-it-forward café, we provide healthy meals to those who might not otherwise receive a healthy hot meal. We are looking for a team member who will help us provide great meals to paying and pay-it-forward people. The ideal candidate is someone who will bring restaurant and cooking experience, foster a collaborative workplace and promote teamwork while serving our patrons.

Neighborhood Building Housing Leader

Matthew 25 is seeking a Housing Leader to help with the growth in our housing programs.  The ideal person will be someone who believes all people should have access to quality, affordable housing; is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, has basic construction knowledge and is comfortable working with volunteers and contractors from diverse backgrounds. Primary areas of responsibility will include minor homeowner construction management, management of rental properties, energy efficiency programs and the tool library.

The Housing Leader salary range is $40,000 – $50,000. Benefits include PTO, health insurance, Simple IRA match, short term disability and paid holidays.

Cultivate Hope Senior Director

Matthew 25 is seeking a Senior Director for our Cultivate Hope food programs. These food-
focused social enterprises seek to bring healthy, affordable food and a sharing economy into
neighborhoods categorized as food deserts. The ideal candidate will oversee the Cultivate Hope
Corner Grocery Store, Groundswell Pay-It-Forward Café and Event Center, the Education
Department and the Cultivate Hope Urban Farm. This person will be an integral part of the
Matthew 25 Leadership Team.

Matthew 25 works to revitalize our geographic areas by working through our four pillars of food, housing, education and community building. During the last few years, Matthew 25 has more than doubled in size. In order to continue to expand our programs, we need someone who has experience in food (preferably in grocery and restaurant) and overseeing teams.

Matthew 25 is an innovative entrepreneurial organization with diverse programs. Current social
enterprises include a tool library, urban farm, Groundswell Café, Cultivate Hope Corner Store,
affordable rental housing and net zero, sustainable housing. All of these programs seek to make
neighborhoods healthier so that people might live into their full potential. Matthew 25’s primary
future growth will come from scaling and multiplying these programs. The Cultivate Hope Senior
Director is an important piece to implementing our mission and vision.

The Cultivate Hope Senior Director salary range is $60,000-$70,000. Benefits include PTO,
health insurance, Simple IRA match, short term disability and paid holidays.

Green Iowa AmeriCorps

Green Iowa AmeriCorps are currently seeking environmentally focused and passionate individuals to serve in the AmeriCorps State program focused on three program tracks; Energy & Community, Sustainable Schools, and Land & Water Stewards. Each program track engages members in direct service, environmental education, volunteer and community engagement, and professional development opportunities in their own unique ways with various host agencies throughout the state. Matthew 25 operates as a host site for the Energy & Community track.

The program will pay you while you serve, with access to free trainings, professional development opportunities, and an education stipend!
