Position Title | Postdoctoral Research Associate (Grant-Funded) |

Position Summary | The Postdoctoral Research Associate will participate in quantifying the probability of compound extreme events using joint and conditional probability approaches. This position will also evaluate both historical data and future climate scenarios to analyze changing risk of extreme events and compound extremes across the USA and a selected partner country. This will make use of four novel methods to assess and illustrate risk. Observational datasets obtained from NASA products (GISS Surface Temperature Analysis, Precipitation data from the GPM and TRMM, CHIRPS, CHIRTS, DayMet) will be used for analysis. This is a grant-funded position with a current anticipated end date of September 15, 2024. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities |

Required Qualifications | PhD required, preferably in meteorology, atmospheric or climate sciences. Experience studying climate variability and change. Excellent data analysis, statistical analysis, and data visualization skills required. Must possess excellent programming skills in several languages (R being preferred). Must possess a high level of productivity for peer-reviewed publications is expected. |

Physical Demands | While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; and use hands to prepare experiments, handle lab equipment, talk and hear, and to operate computer. Specific vision requirements for this job include the ability to adjust focus as necessary. |
