Description

We seek applicants for a full-time position to lead the College's Success Education program and serve as the Dean of Students’ delegate for student conduct, appeals, and complaint matters. 

The Associate Dean will ensure an emphasis on equity in access and achievement connected to success for first-generation and other underrepresented student populations. This position requires a high level of communication and collaboration with on-campus and external areas and organizations.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to 

  • Handle matters related to student conduct, appeals, and complaints 
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise Success Education faculty and staff; provide orientation to the program and assist with obtaining curriculum and resource materials necessary to design and facilitate their courses
  • Provide oversight for Heartland’s Success Education dual credit courses in District 540 high schools
  • Lead efforts to promote, coordinate, and maintain Success Education courses offered through early college partnerships in alignment with Illinois Postsecondary and Career Expectation (PaCE) guidelines
  • Provide leadership and direction for the Success Coaching Program as part of an inclusive model of wrap-around supports for students 
  • Maintain and develop teaching and leadership expertise in Success Education by undertaking classroom instruction and by participating in relevant professional development 
  • Collaborate with Enrollment and Student Services staff to facilitate communication with students, refer students appropriately, and share information and feedback

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with student services/student affairs
  • Experience working with college students with a wide range of college preparedness levels
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to access and achievement in education for all students, including but not limited to students of color, students with LGBTQ+ identities, students with disabilities, low-income students, first-generation students, and immigrant students
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience designing and implementing student success strategies/programs
  • Supervisory and budget management experience

EMPLOYEE LEAVE
Vacation: 20 days per year with a maximum annual carry-over of 40 days
Sick Leave: 12 days per year with unlimited annual carry-over
Holidays: 12 designated paid holidays plus 3 paid floating days
HCC is closed from Christmas Eve Day through New Year's Day generally resulting in 2-3 additional paid days
